PETER, PAUL and MARY release Puff the Magic Dragon
Based on a 1953 poem by 19–year–old Cornell student Leonard Lipton, who had passed it on to fellow Cornell student Peter Yarrow…who later joined Paul Stookey and Mary Travers to form the legendary musical group.
…the song’s saga takes place “by the sea” in the fantasy land “of Honah Lee.”
