After (a diplomatic) 21 pages covering the ancient world, where the Jews were often the social elite and/or wealthy communities, Flannery devotes the next 252 pages covering Church–inspired or directed anti–Semitism, when the Jews were not in such good measure—as a consequence of the Church.
Flannery does what none of the Jewish historians had done: He produces the first important work (that I am aware of) comprehensively documenting the Church’s central and multi–century–long role in anti–Semitism.
