Operation Moked (i.e. Operation “Focus”), Israeli air force strikes Egyptian airfields at dawn.
Israeli turns the tables on its blockading enemies – and catches them off–guard; Israeli warplanes (188 aircraft) destroy the air force (300 planes) of Egypt on the ground, and by the end of the day, virtually wipe out the air forces of Syria and Jordan….netting the Israelis total air dominance….The Israeli lightning land offensive follows on the heels of its air dominance…. Israel gains effective control of a very respectable portion of the Middle East within 6 days… and major, crucial bargaining–chips in future negotiations…
