When interviewed by the Israeli press, as to what stunned them the most upon arrival in late 20th Century Israel, the Ethiopians spoke not of their awe about Phantom jets
breaking the sound barrier over Israeli beaches or of other symbols of an advanced Western society, but, rather, of their “shock” that the Beit HaMikdash—the Jewish Temple—was not operational and offering sacrifices of doves.
[Note that “The Temple” has not been “operational” since 68 CE, 1940 years ago, when it came under siege by the Romans.]
