December 2: Linda Lingle sworn–in as Governor of Hawaii. She takes the Oath of Office on a Tanach.
Then, sworn–in for a second term December 2006. Lingle is the second Jewish female governor of a U.S. state. The first was Madeleine M. Kunin, Govenor of Vermont, from 1985 through 1991.
