After crucial intelligence procured from Nasser’s own London–based son–in–law (regarding an imminent Egyptian attack across the Suez Canal) is dismissed and quashed by an ego maniacal Israeli intelligence chief, Israel is caught off–guard by an intensive and well–planned Egyptian and Syrian multi–front attack and invasion.
Egyptian forces forge eastward first across the Suez Canal, then puncture right through the (thinly–manned Israeli) “Bar–Lev defensive line,” then roll onward and north–eastward through the Sinai Desert…
Syrian tanks are rolling south from the Syrian border.
Central Israel is now at–risk caught between the two converging armored forces….
Israel, at–this–point, allegedly unsheathes its alleged doomsday – (nuclear–tipped) “Jericho missiles”…
Now “up against the wall,” Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir then unleashes her human nuclear–weapon Major General Ariel Sharon.
Ramping–up to counter–attack, Sharon dusts–off “Contingency Plan: Suez–Westward–Wartime–Crossing Plans”
(which he authored several years prior)…
Sharon rushes specialized pre–positioned heavy–duty military rafts westward across the Sinai Desert to pre–hardened and camouflaged concrete raft–launching–sites at the Canal’s eastern edge; then (Oct 15–16) launches ‘Operation Valiant’ with his 143rd Armored Division employing armor–bearing rafts carrying his tanks and troops westward across the Suez Canal (just south of the tail end of the eastward–rolling Egyptian operation);
Sharon’s cross–canal maneuver encircles and entraps the Egyptian Third Army on the western/Egyptian side of the Canal in the desert. By Oct 19, Israeli military engineers had stretched four complete pontoon bridges across the Canal to supply and reinforce their counter–attacking and encircling forces…
With all supply lines to the Egyptian Third Army now severed by Sharon’s forces, the Egyptians are now in “counter–check” and in deep, deep trouble.
With the Egyptian Third Army, which also putatively protects any potential Israeli westward advance on Cairo, now encircled by Sharon and literally out of water in the desert, the Egyptians “need to deal”…
The stage is now set for a Kissinger–brokered armistice…several days later.
…and several years later, an eventual Israeli–Egyptian Peace Treaty at Camp David (Begin–Sadat); a subsequent “cold peace” with Egypt…..through publication of this work in 2008.
