Hussein bin Talal (1935–1999), King of Jordan (1952–1958) was from the Hashemite line.
Israel had at one point (during the “Black September 1970” gambit) come to the strategic aid of King Hussein, when Syrian forces had invaded from the north in support of an ultimately ill–fated fedayeen/PLO uprising.
