Washington, DC: Passover Seder, Spring ‘96: Kamenetz (of LSU) organized – in tandem with the International Action Network—a dedication of that year’s Pesach Seder across the USA as a tribute to the imprisoned (by the Chinese) Tibetan Panchen Lama—whose eighth birthday fell on that Passover.
The PBS documentary and the Kamenetz book, both by the same name (The Jew in the Lotus) were to follow. [The Panchen Lama, Gedhun, had been arrested by the Chinese government in 1995 (at age 5), and, as of 2008, has not been seen in public.]
On other spiritually–related themes, Kamenetz’s Stalking Elijah: Adventures with Today’s Jewish Mystical Masters would follow in 1997, along with The History of Last Night’s Dream (spiritual possibilities of dreaming) ten years later.
