Princeton, NJ: Born 1928, John Forbes Nash, Jr., an American mathematician and economist who works in game theory, among other esoteric specialties, shares the Nobel Prize with two other game theorists (Selten and Harsanyi).
The subject of both the book and the movie A Beautiful Mind. Nash had suffered, battled, and ultimately prevailed–over schizophrenia, particularly in the 1959–1970 period, sometimes in an institutional setting.
In 1978, he won the coveted John von Neumann Theory Prize. His wife Alicia would say that perhaps all he ever needed was ‘to live a quiet life.’
